The leaders took responsibility for a range of activities and were assisted by staff. Activities included cookery with Mrs. Stoner, computing with Mrs. Rose, Drama with Miss Kelly and Mr. Wallis and a range of sporting activities such as a world cup football festival with Mr. Whiffin, who was ably assisted by Phil Jones, Jack Hodges, Riley Ford and Izzy.
Tennis was led by Mr. Ritchie, who also offered some volleyball with Miss Sykes, and rounders was a popular option for the year 6's with Miss Hathaway being assisted by Harriett, Paige, Abby, Laura and Holly. Beth Moxon and Laura Jackson ran capture the flag sessions, whilst Conor Wheat showed his exceptional leadership skills with help from Aaron Alexander and Christian Mitchell, by organising dodgeball. This was coupled with table tennis and new age kurling.
The evenings were a great success with many positive comments from both Year 6's and their parents alike, such as:
"The Sports Leaders were amazing and really emphasised the importance of the evening being about the kids mixing together and getting to know knew people. They all had such confidence and ran the activities so professionally and maturely – a real credit to the school and themselves."
It would not have been possible for the evening to have taken place without the efforts of our fine sports leaders, so many thanks go them from the new Year 7 tutors and all the children who attended.
