Ferring are Virtually Brilliant in Cluster Skills Triathlon (with St. John's & St. Margaret's Close Behind)

2/4/2014

Picture
Ferring were the overall champions in our cluster virtual skills triathlon winning, being victorious in 3 age groups (Reception, Year 3 and Year 6).
The competition is a legacy event from when every school achieved the “Extended Healthy Schools Award” from West Sussex County Council for their efforts in getting their pupils involved in regular competitive physical activity. One of the events introduced was the virtual skills triathlon for which the children trained to improve ball sending skills, dribbling & running skills and powerful throwing skills, before recording their efforts. Once the results were collated they were averaged out for each year group in each school to find out the cluster winners.
St. John the Baptist won the competition in Years 4 & 5, whilst St. Margaret's were champions in Years 1 & 2. Georgian Gardens also came close being runners up in four different age groups.
The schools have continued to run this event termly and the best school in each year group is awarded a trophy if they achieve the highest average score, taking into account the size of the school.
The PALs in the schools have been trained to assist staff with the running and recording of this event, and they have applied the rules as fairly as possible across the schools.
Well done to all the schools who completed the competition, and to the over 1300 children who took part.
The results for the spring term competition can be seen
below.
