Bronze Ambassadors Show Their Competitive Edge

9/10/2013

Bronze Ambassadors from St. John the Baptist, Georgian Gardens, East Preston Juniors and Clapham & Patching came to The Angmering School this afternoon to take part in the first of this year's BA Sports Council meetings, where they received some sports leadership training in how to be an advocate promoting competition at their own schools.

Bronze Ambassadors have been chosen because they are good role models for sports at their school, and have been recognised by their teachers as high performing sports leaders with the potential to develop sporting competitions. They are confident, well organised and always willing to help out and promote the good values of sports such as respect, excellence, friendship, determination, inspiration, courage and equality.

Over the course of the year they will attend six meetings at The Angmering School in which they will undertake higher level sports leader training and develop projects of their own in which they can raise the profile of sport and encourage participation and the acceptance of sporting values. They will also try to develop involvement in Commonwealth Games related activities (with the Games being held in Glasgow in July 2014).

The leaders learned how to set up, organise, run, referee, score and record virtual triathlon competitions for several groups at a time, in order to help teachers at their schools. They could also set up inter class competitions of their own. They then learned how to run a 3-spot 2-ball competition, which could be run as an in-school league at play or lunchtimes.

They all did tremedously well and have been given the target of setting up competitions at lunch or breaktimes, assisting teachers in doing the Virtual Triathlon and announcing  what they will be doing in assemblies.
They will report back at the next BA meeting which takes place on Wednesday 20th November.
